CONSULTING ESTIMATING & BIDDING WORKSHOPS SEMINARS SOFTWARE
Q. How much do consultations cost? A. Because each company's needs, and goals are unique we do not list standard fees. You might only need a couple of hours on the phone reviewing budgets, or you could need numerous days in office depending on your immediate situation, short term and long term goals. Because of this complexity we prefer to talk to you about what you want the training to accomplish, then we will provide you with the cost of the training.
Q. Can you guarantee me the results that I want? A. No, we would never guarantee you results because after the few hours we spend together you are on your own to implement the systems and the training. Results will depend on how bad you want them. We have clients who have improved their net profit 300 percent in one year on our systems -- they wanted results badly. We also have clients who go right back to their old way of doing things and have lost 300 percent in net profits in one year because they didn't implement anything -- they didn't want results bad enough. After we leave you have to be willing to hold yourself accountable to the training. Only when that happens will you see results.
Q. What makes your system of multiple overhead recovery (MORS) the "right" one? A. We will be the first to tell you that there is no perfect system of recovering overhead. This is due largely to the fact that no two contracting jobs are exactly alike. You have different variables in material, labor, equipment, and subs on each and every installation job you do. After performing extensive research in specific companies, and other leading consulting firms in the construction industry to determine how much overhead exists because of material, equipment, labor, and subs Charles Vander Kooi developed the Multiple Overhead Recovery System (MORS). The MORS system was designed to take these changing factors into account and recover the correct amount of overhead that exists on each variable.
Q. What makes Vander Kooi & Associates Inc. experts in the industry and different from every other consulting firm? A. We are not the only consulting firm in the industry, and do not claim to be the only firm that can help you. We are absolutely confident that our systems are very successful to the company willing to implement them, and have hundreds of clients who do very well on them. This having been said, the following are just a few of the areas that we feel set us apart. Professional consultants and speakers to the construction industry since 1980, Charles Vander Kooi, president of VKA, has over 36 years of experience in the Construction Industry, including personally bidding over $1 billion of work. He has spent the last 22 years as a national and international speaker and private consultant. Charles continues to average 80 seminars a year and consults with over 50 clients annually. He has personally chosen each VKA associate for their unique talents. Last year VK Associates helped over 150 individual companies in the Construction Industry through workshops and private consultations. Last year VKA Associates presented 110 seminars to different associations, conventions, and companies including the World of Concrete, National Masonry Conference, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of America to name but a few. Charles Vander Kooi has written hundreds of articles for construction related publications. Our client base consists of companies with annual gross sales from $5 million to $80 million giving us a broad knowledge of challenges that face each company at different levels.
ESTIMATING & BIDDING WORKSHOPS
Q. If I don't have all of the information requested will I be able to keep up? If you don't have all of the information you will be a little behind in the workshop, but we will do everything we can to get you up to date to the point where once you are able to get the numbers together you will be able to input them into the system and keep going.
Q. Will my competition be able to see my rates and information? A. No, the workshop is normally arranged so that each company has their own table. We do not share the rates and costs developed with anyone else in the workshop, or anyone else for that matter.
Q. What is the next step after the workshop? A. Because of the massive amount of information that is absorbed in this workshop we never recommend going out right away and immediately begin submitting bids. Instead we recommend the following:
Q. Where can I see your speaking locations? A. Visit the VK Calendar page where we have all of our seminars listed
Q. How can I attend a seminar and how much does it cost? A. We are primarily hired by sponsoring associations and organizations in the Construction Industry and do not take registrations and determine pricing ourselves. If you will contact us, though, we will get you in touch with the sponsoring organization and get you the information you need.
Q. Where can I see the content of each seminar? A. We have all of the outlines of our seminars on our Seminar Topics, Outlines & Speakers page
